Excavator Exports Jumped 30% in the First 9 Months — Are Your Attachment Stocks Ready?

China Construction Machinery Association data released on October 12, 2026: China exported 109,744 excavators from January to September 2026, up 30.4% year-on-year. Every machine sold overseas creates downstream attachment demand — hydraulic breakers, quick couplers, grapples, hydraulic shears, buckets, pulverizers.

But here‘s the timing to keep in mind: attachment purchasing typically lags machine exports by 3 to 6 months. The real demand uptick probably won’t be felt until Q1 next year. Stocking up early is the right move, but don‘t expect inquiries to double the month after the export numbers come out.

Over the past six months, our most inquired categories have been hydraulic breakers, hydraulic shears, pulverizers, grapples, and buckets. These customers come mainly from Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Southeast Asia, and South America. Last week, a U.S. client emailed us: “I have a Cat 320, mostly demolishing concrete — which pulverizer model do you recommend?” Questions like this come in almost every week, with different machine models and job conditions.

An excavator is a platform. Attachments are what let it do different jobs. A machine leaves the factory with just a standard bucket, but once the customer gets to the job site, the questions start. These aren’t one-time purchases — they‘re repeat business.

What’s driving this? Our own inquiry data shows some shifts: Southeast Asian customers are inquiring more frequently this year than last, and the Middle East and Africa are picking up too. The rental market is another push — more contractors prefer renting excavators with interchangeable attachments rather than buying multiple dedicated machines. That favors suppliers who can cover mainstream tonnage classes and offer quick-change solutions.
